Scewo wheelchairs can officially be reimbursed through health insurance providers and are listed in the German Medical Aids Directory.

To successfully apply for coverage through your health insurance provider or insurer, you will need the following documents:
- A medical prescription for the wheelchair, including a justification.
- A test drive documented in a trial report.
- A medical supply store that provides you with a cost estimate and submits all the required documents on your behalf.

Ready, set, test drive.
Together, we’ll take your preferred wheelchair for a no-obligation test drive. We’ll be happy to come to your home so you can thoroughly test it in your familiar surroundings. Of course, you can also take a test drive with one of our partners. One of our experts will document your test drive in a trial report.

Time to see your doctor.
After that, ask your doctor or specialist to issue a prescription for your wheelchair. We’ve put together a guide to help make sure nothing important is overlooked.

Off to the insurance provider.
You or your medical supply store submit the trial report from your test drive to your health insurance provider or insurer, together with a justification, your prescription, and a cost estimate.
“Ding dong”—a visit from the MD.
Your health insurance provider or insurer may involve the MD* to review your documents or send a specialist to your home. The specialist will assess whether the wheelchair is suitable for you and your everyday life. They will then submit their report and recommendation to your funding provider.

Decision day.
Time to celebrate: Your funding provider will support you with the financing. There are two possible scenarios:
- Your funding provider covers the full cost of your wheelchair.
- Your funding provider covers part of the cost of your wheelchair.*
*If your health insurance provider or insurer contributes to the cost, the wheelchair becomes its property. If you have any questions about this, please contact your funding provider directly.
Unfortunately, no.
It can happen that your funding provider decides not to provide financial support. If your application is denied, you still have three options, and we’ll be happy to support you with each of them:
- File an appeal
- Finance the wheelchair privately
- Apply to foundations for financial support

For repairs and the recommended annual maintenance*, simply visit us or one of our partners.
*If your wheelchair was funded by the IV, you can have it serviced once a year. The costs are generally covered by the IV. Repairs and maintenance may be subject to charges in cases of intentional damage or for privately financed wheelchairs.
