An overview of all Scewo BRO Software Updates.

Software Version: 24.3.5 (02.09.2024)

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • Faster and more robust Start Balance: The transition from park mode to drive mode is now quicker and more secure. This means you’ll have greater flexibility and safety in critical moments, like boarding or exiting public transportation.
  • Enhanced slope performance: Navigating slopes just got smoother. BRO’s tracks now adjust more dynamically, providing increased stability and safety whether you’re going uphill or downhill.
  • Update notifications via menu button: You’ll now receive direct notifications when a software update is available. The power button will blink to alert you, allowing you to start the update with a simple press of the menu button. Hold the button until it vibrates to initiate the update.
  • App-based light control: Managing your lights, including the front lights, is now more convenient than ever. You can easily turn them on and off using the BRO app.
  • Additional improvements: This update includes several enhancements designed to boost your safety in various situations. We strongly recommend updating your BRO at your earliest convenience before your next journey.

Software Version: 23.10.7

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • StairGuard stair assistant: The new StairGuard feature makes navigating stairs easier, ensuring that BRO stays perfectly aligned on its path. Learn more about this feature in this video.
  • Improved slope detection: Slope detection in drive mode has been optimized to deliver even more precise warnings when encountering steep ramps.
  • Battery display correction: We’ve fixed an issue where the battery level wasn’t accurately displayed under certain conditions.
  • Maintenance alerts: New maintenance alerts have been added to notify you of any issues with the seat lift or support system (see Helpcenter for details).

Software Version: 23.9.11

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • Detection of stairs with overhangs: BRO can now reliably detect and navigate open stairs or stairs with overhangs. More details can be found in this video.
  • Motor status notifications via the app: BRO’s motors are now monitored even more closely. In case of any issues, alerts will be displayed both on the control console (with a red gear icon) and on the app on your mobile device (see details in the user manual, section “11.2.1 Errors”).
  • Enhanced joystick control customization: With new adjustment options, your authorized Scewo partner can now fine-tune the joystick controls even more precisely to suit your specific needs.

Software Version: 23.4.3

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • Maximum speed with low battery: You can now enjoy the full speed of your BRO even when the battery is low.
  • Switching between maneuver mode and stair mode: In stair mode (on the platform), you can now switch even more precisely between maneuver mode and stair mode using the joystick.
  • Improved notifications and minor fixes: Several notifications have been enhanced for better clarity and expanded functionality. For example, you will now receive a notification when the support wheels are deployed as you reach the bottom of a staircase. We recommend continuing to move forward in stair mode until this notification disappears before switching to drive mode to ensure that the tracks no longer touch the last step.

Software Version: 22.9.3

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • Center of gravity deviations: It is now possible to switch to drive mode even if there are larger deviations from the previously stored center of gravity. So, if you happen to be sitting differently on BRO, it can still transition back to drive mode, though it may be slightly bumpier. While the transition has become more reliable, it’s still important for safety to regularly update the center of gravity.
  • Joystick movement: As you know, BRO requires joystick movement during mode transitions to position the motors correctly. Previously, this was only necessary when there was a change in position (e.g., adjusting the backrest) while in park mode. Now, BRO will only switch to drive mode after joystick movement, even without a position change. This added precaution prevents unwanted transitions, such as accidentally activating drive mode while on public transport.
  • Improved notifications and minor fixes: We’ve enhanced the clarity of several notifications and fixed a few minor issues that you might not have noticed. For example, in remote control mode, switching between slow (turtle) and fast (hare) speeds was not always possible in every position, but this has now been corrected.
  • Simplified maintenance: We’ve made it easier for your trusted service partner to perform maintenance on your BRO. With the new “MyBRO” tool, technicians can quickly access the status of your BRO, including how many kilometers you’ve traveled and how many stair steps you’ve climbed. This streamlined solution will make your next maintenance check-up more efficient.

Software Version: 22.5.9

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • Car passenger mode: BRO can now be used as a car passenger. We have put together detailed instructions on how this works and what needs to be considered. Please note: This feature is available only for customers with a Series One BRO (V1.1), as the Pioneer Series (V1) does not have the necessary car hooks.
  • Gradients: We have improved BRO’s performance on inclines, especially in terms of braking and turning maneuvers.
  • Thresholds: Crossing thresholds has become even smoother. BRO now supports you with the correct driving behavior over thresholds. Similar to a lane departure warning system in a car, BRO helps you recognize and regulate your speed when driving over these obstacles.
  • Cancel mode change: If the mode change is not yet complete or the joystick still needs to be moved, the change can now be canceled. Simply select another mode via the touchpad or the app to interrupt the transition.
  • Charging: When BRO is fully charged, it now automatically switches off to prevent battery discharge. BRO also charges when powered off at the main switch. Please note that your mobile phone will stop charging once BRO has completed its charging cycle. We recommend turning BRO off at the main switch if not in use for more than 24 hours. If BRO is in standby mode for more than 24 hours, it must be switched off and on again at the main switch (wait 30 seconds in between).
  • Booting problems: If BRO does not power on correctly, turn it on and off at the main switch (wait 30 seconds in between). If the issue persists after three attempts, the software version will be rolled back to a previous one, allowing BRO to restart. Afterward, make sure to update BRO’s software to the latest version.
  • Driving mode (balancing): BRO’s balancing has been refined, and its movement radius reduced, allowing it to maintain its position more securely. However, always keep a safe distance from solid objects, as BRO’s balancing behavior can exert high forces if it becomes stuck while attempting to stabilize.
  • Bluetooth: The Scewo App can now connect to BRO via Bluetooth, enabling you to use your Wi-Fi for regular internet usage on your smartphone. However, certain features still require a Wi-Fi connection to BRO, such as the rearview camera, adjusting specific settings, or performing software updates. Currently, the Bluetooth connection on Android devices can only be established through remote control mode.
  • Remote control via Scewo App: All of BRO’s motors can now be adjusted via Bluetooth using the app. You’ll find this feature under the “seating settings” tab. In the top right corner, you’ll see the Bluetooth icon, which changes to an Xbox controller symbol once the connection is established. Please note that this function should only be used when no one is sitting on BRO, as there is no automatic anti-tip security. All motor movements should be done cautiously, and the position of the large wheels must be monitored. To make car loading easier, you now have the option to save custom positions.

EWOK

Software Version: 21.11.5

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • The transition from track mode to another mode is even smoother than before.
  • Also, the transition between park mode and height adjustment mode is now even more direct and fluent.
  • The message for driving too fast occasionally came up in moments when this was not the case at all. We have adjusted this and the message now only appears when you are really driving too fast.
  • We also reworked the control of the LEDs to optimize their power consumption and lifetime.

DROIDEKA

Software Version: 21.7.9

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • If your BRO is in park mode, it is now even more stable because it always lowers itself onto the big wheels. If you now drive your BRO a little forward or backward, it will lift off the ground from this position and you will drive on the tracks and support wheels as before. Then push the joystick to the side to return to the lowered parking position. In this position, you are even more stable on the train, bus, or on ramps.
  • Until now it was not possible to drive 10 km/h if the joystick sensitivity was not at 100%. We have adjusted this and the speed is now no longer linked to the joystick sensitivity – it now only controls how sensitive the joystick is.
  • For your safety, you can no longer switch from park mode to drive mode if the ground is too steep. You have to leave the slope in track or stair mode. To prevent you from getting into such a situation in the first place, you can no longer exit drive mode via the app or the touchpad on terrain that is too steep. You can still exit driving mode using the on/off button on the interface.
  • If you plug in the charging cable, you wake up your BRO from sleep. This way, the mobile phone is also charged so that you are ready to go the next morning. This only works when the main switch is on.
  • We also have something for your ears. We’ve replaced all the sounds with new ones – turn the music on!

C-3PO.2

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • Stairs become even safer. Stairs that have small bumps or a slight slope in front of them (less than 8 degrees/resp. 14%) are now also possible. Steep stairs are also safer to climb. So more different stairs are now possible.
  • We have slowed down the hover-mode. This allows you to drive more precisely in front of a staircase.

C-3PO.1

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • If you sit at a table with the seat lift down for an extended time and your BRO turns off, he goes right back into that mode when you turn him back on. This allows you to reverse easily.
  • When switching from drive mode to park mode, there was often a rough forward jerk. This transition is smoother and more fluid after the update.

C-3PO

Here’s what your BRO can do better or newly improved with this software update:

  • When climbing stairs, it recognizes the end more reliably. But be careful:
You still have to stay sharp and intervene if necessary. Pay attention to the green star on the control console; it shows you that BRO has lowered the support wheels.
  • If BRO recognizes the end of the stairs too early and starts to lower the training wheels, he will automatically notice this and retract them again. You can then continue climbing the stairs.
  • BRO now tells you even more clearly what’s bothering him and what he needs from you with his notifications via the app, the control console, and the acoustics.
  • When charging BRO, you can now see on the control console and in the app whether he is properly connected to the cable and charging. On the app, you should see a charging sign, on the control panel the dots are charging.
  • Now BRO remembers if you have switched off the touch panel in the control panel. It will stay off until you turn it back on via the menu button.
  • Rear camera transmission now works on the iOS app.
  • Adjust the seat settings via the control panel. To do this, press the menu button for one second. Now the different motors light up. Press the joystick to the left or right to select the desired motor. Your choice now lights up green. Now you can move the motor by pushing and pulling the joystick. If the seat settings fit, simply press the menu button again and the ride can continue.
  • BRO remembers your seat settings from the last ride. He automatically adjusts them at the start of the next ride.
