Mom, Dad, we are on «Galileo»!
With this report, a childhood dream came true for me that I didn’t even know I had. A column about my experiences filming for the report on «Galileo».

Turning on the TV, selecting ProSieben, and watching the programme «Galileo» with big, shiny eyes. A typical evening from my childhood. We were more than happy to give up the half-hour of TV time per day for it. As an avid viewer, I would never have dreamed that one day I would be working for a company that was featured in such a report and that I would be responsible for organising it. But let’s go back to the beginning.
«We would like to do a report with you.» I have never been more excited by an email. But along with the enthusiasm came the respect for organising a report that almost half a million people would see. It wasn’t my first rodeo with a TV crew, but this time it was different. Because it’s «Galileo»!
I started with the planning, consulting, rescheduling, organising a test driver, motivating employees to give insights into their daily work, preparing interviews, briefing the team, rescheduling again at short notice (due to corona) and all of that within two weeks.
I’ll say this much: I didn’t have many great nights sleep during this time.
Finally the time had come, the film crew was here. Surprisingly, my nervousness was quite contained. We spent the whole morning exploring the city of Winterthur with our test driver Debora and didn’t miss a single BRO function: Whether it was ordering a tea at eye level in the height adjusting mode, overcoming a slope in the track mode or, of course, climbing a flight of stairs with the stair-climbing mode. Debora was also visibly having fun: «I haven’t been on a staircase since my accident. It’s just unbelievably great that this is possible again with BRO.»
The first part went by without any mishaps and my shoulders relaxed by at least one whole inch. After a slight delay, we started recording in the office, where various staff members granted insight into their work. Without the great preparation of the Scewonauts involved, such an efficient realisation would not have been possible. Teamwork absolutely does make the dream work!
The airing date was already scheduled for a week later. After all the excitement and the following relaxation, I almost missed the broadcast. Imagine waiting three weeks eagerly for something and then forgetting it by a hair. Luckily we have a team chat! They were eagerly awaiting the broadcast and just in time, I looked at my mobile phone and was shocked to discover that it was Friday night. Fun fact: I first had to free up space on my mobile phone so that I could watch the show live on the ProSieben app.
Slightly anxious, I watched the programme with a glass of wine in my hand. But the tension quickly dissipated and a childhood dream came true that I didn’t even know I had. My 12-year-old self would burst with joy!
Seeing our BRO and our team in action and in the best light was a confirmation to me once again that I chose the right profession. As a cherry on top, our product manages to inspire me, again and again, every day.
What more could you ask for?
